Video: Ryan Giggs searching for heavyweight signings for Man United
Manchester United have been linked with more players than any other team since the end of May. But with transfer season well underway, Memphis Depay remains their only signing so far.
Ryan Giggs says United are keen to add heavyweight names to the squad, as they bid to return to the top of English football.
Giggs, United's record appearance holder, highlighted midfield as a key area to strengthen.
This isn't surprising given the club's links to Bayern Munich's Bastian Schweinsteiger and Ilkay Gundogan of Borussia Dortmund..
Louis van Gaal will be familiar with Schweinsteiger after converting him from the wing during his time at the Allianz Arena.
But recent quotes made by Schweinsteiger appeared to play down any chance of joining United.
And any move for Gundogan also seems unlikely, with many in Germany tipping him to stay in Dortmund for another year.
The most likely move for van Gaal appears to be Morgan Schneiderlin. The France international has been heavily linked to United for the past week.
Star quality is another factor Giggs says will be required for United's comeback.
Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos would certainly bring that to Old Trafford should he decide to leave the Bernabeu.
Seamus Coleman is another linked to United, though his club Everton insist the right back in not for sale at any price.
Despite Angel di Maria's claims he wants to fight for his place at the club, reports continue to swirl over his future.
A potential swap deal for PSG's Edison Cavani among the more sensational rumours surrounding the Argentine winger.
