TYRONE manager Mickey Harte will not have his right-hand man by his side for the All-Ireland Qualifier opener on June 27.

The Red Hands have decided against contesting an eight-week ban handed down to assistant manager Gavin Devlin.

But the county board has confirmed it will appeal a €5,000 fine imposed by the Central Competitions Control Committee as a result of a half-time fracas during last month’s Ulster Championship clash with Donegal.

Donegal were also fined €5,000 as a result of the melee which broke out as the players and officials arrived at the entrance to the tunnel on their way off the pitch for the interval.

No players from either county are to receive punishments arising from the incident.

Players, substitutes and officials became involved in the scuffle halfway through a highly charged and controversial encounter.

But order was quickly restored, and no disruption was caused to a game that was eventually won by reigning provincial champions Donegal by three points.

They march on to face Armagh in the first round proper at the Athletic Grounds on June 14, while Tyrone face a familiar route via the Qualifiers.
