Earnshaw ends Wales career

WALES striker Robert Earnshaw has announced his retirement from international football. Earnshaw (right), who won 58 caps, made the announcement after signing a one-year deal for Vancouver Whitecaps. The 33-year-old scored 16 goals for Wales - ranking him joint sixth on the country's all-time list of scorers with Cliff Jones and Mark Hughes - and won his last cap in a 2-0 friendly home defeat to Bosnia-Herzegovina in August 2012.

Meanwhile, Swansea defender Ashley Richards last night withdrew from the Wales squad for Saturday's Euro 2016 qualifier with Israel with a calf strain. Declan John, the twice-capped Cardiff defender who is currently on loan at Barnsley, has been promoted from the U21 squad to replace Richards.
