McCullough wins hands down to set up WBO rumble

ANY concerns Marc McCullough had over his injured hand were quickly put to bed on Saturday night and now he can look forward to a WBO inter-continental title fight in May.

"They're talking about a WBO inter-continental title next and a world title eliminator," said the Shankill Road featherweight.

"But [Vasyl] Lomachenko is the world champion so I need another bit of experience before I get in with them sort of boys.

"I want to work my way up the rankings with the WBC and WBA and if I can get in the top 10 with them I'd be happy enough.

McCullough scored the quickest stoppage win of his career thanks to a series of sweetly-timed shots off his right to knock the fight out of outclassed Malkhaz Tatrishvilli.

McCullough rocked the Georgian in the first exchange and followed it up with a few more before Tatrishvilli, who obviously didn't fancy it, turned his back on him. Referee Hugh Russell jr waved it off after a minute and nine seconds.

"It's another win anyway, so what else can I say," said a smiling McCullough. He is hoping for a WBO inter-continental title fight in May.

"I wanted to test the right hand because in the gym I was holding back a bit and I thought I just needed to go for it. I caught him with a couple lovely and there were no problems thank God.

"I've got the attitude that if I can put someone out, he's going out no matter what. It probably would have been better to get a couple of rounds and give my hand a good test but you can't take chances."
