Walsh rules out dual role

CORK dual ace Aidan Walsh (left) has ruled out the possibility of playing both football and hurling for the county again next year.

The Kanturk clubman said he will make a decision on which code he'll commit to in the coming weeks and described last season's experience as "very difficult". "It's something I can look back on and say I did it, but I don't think I have any intention of doing again it for the coming year, or for the rest of my career," he said.

Walsh believes that while it is still possible to play both codes, it is impossible to play to your full potential. "I suppose it was very difficult when it came to the All-Ireland series, especially when we won the Munster hurling championship and it was a massive high. "Then I had to go back to the football.

I played the Sligo game, played the Mayo game and had two weeks to prepare for the Tipperary game. "It's not enough to prepare for an All-Ireland semi-final and my performance showed that on the field. I was lethargic and tired and I just wasn't up to the pace of it. "I'm not saying it's the reason that I played badly, that I didn't get enough preparation. But it is certainly a factor."
