Waters takes win

TEAM Tyco Suzuki, from Moneymore, were on top of the world yesterday as they took their second British Superbike race win of the season, writes Willis Marshall.

Australian Josh Waters (right) snatched the narrowest of race wins over Ryuichi Kiyonari by just 0.1 second in the first Superbike race at Assen in Holland. Waters got the day of to the perfect start in race one with his victory, but he was unable to repeat that feat in race two, finishing in seventh place after Shane Byrne, on the Rapid Solicitor's Kawasaki, took the victory. Byrne, now leads the championship by 12 points from Kiyonari, who was second again. In the Supersport 600 races, Carrickfergus rider Alastair Seeley got back to winning ways with a nine-second victory over James Rispoli in race one, but had to be content with sixth in race two as championship leaders Billy McConnell and Graeme Gowland claimed another one-two for the Smiths Triumph Team.

Glen Irwin finished fourth in race one.
