Hicks on the way to making history

GENEVA-DOMICILED Paul Hicks is playing his fourth and final round in the West Coast International Challenge Tournament at Enniscrone today, and is on course for a full hand of gross prizes writes Tony McGee.

The three-handicapper from the Boissey Club opened his campaign at Bundoran with a winning 31 gross points.

On Tuesday, he moved to Donegal and won with 26 points, then completed a hat-trick by carding 34 points at Strandhill, yesterday.

A similar performance at the Enniscrone outpost would write Hicks' name into the tournament's record books. Last year, Phil Gray, a three-handicapper from the Bristall Golf Club in Leicestershire, created a record by winning the gross prize at all four clubs so Hicks is now in a position to equal that fantastic achievement.
