Pat's eye Celtic clash

ST PATRICK'S Athletic take on Legia Warsaw in the second leg of their Uefa Champions League second qualifying round tie this evening knowing victory would set up a glamour tie with Celtic.

The Dublin club gave themselves a superb chance to qualify with an impressive 1-1 draw in Warsaw last week.

Former Manchester United trainee Christy Fagan gave the visitors the lead in the first half before the hosts rallied in added time to steal an equaliser. The away goal has spread optimism among Super Saints fans and the hope of recording a memorable win remains a strong possibility for Liam Buckley's side.

The League of Ireland champions impressed in Poland, but their domestic form remains a concern for the Inchicore side.

With just one win in their last four League games, Buckley's men are nine points off League leaders Dundalk.

Legia, meanwhile, will enter tonight's clash on the back of an opening day defeat to GKS Belchatow in the Polish Ekstraklasa.

Due to the demand for tickets, the hosts will contest the match at Shamrock Rovers's Tallaght Stadium, which has a larger capacity than their traditional Richmond Park home.

Richmond Park was the venue when St Pat's defeated teams such as Elfsborg, Krylya Sovetov Samara and Shakhter Karagandy in Europe, while fans will be worried that the club have been beaten by Steaua Bucuresti, FC Karpaty Lviv and Hannover 96 when forced to move to bigger Dublin venues.
