Ballykinlar hosts 10k

BALLYKINLAR hosts its second 10k run on June 29 with a noon start subject to tide times. The organisers assure that the event is ideal for newcomers to the sport wanting to keep fit or seasoned runners looking for a challenge. The testing nature of the race route can be gauged from the fact that last year's winner Brendan Teer, with a best of 31:46, took over 38 minutes to complete the distance.

Starting on road and heading toward the east Down coast, the run takes in stunning views of the Mourne Mountains and Dundrum Bay. After running six kilometres on the beach, it passes through the residential area of Ballykinlar to the finishing line.

Further details are available at www.bk10k.co.uk and race registration can be done on the www.athleticsni.org following the link for the Ballykinlar 10k. Runners can also choose the option of entering the 5k.
