McCullough Euro bid highlights Waterfront bill

MARCO McCullough will fight unbeaten Czech Martin Parlagi for the vacant WBO European Featherweight title on an action-packed card at Belfast's Waterfront Hall on June 20 writes Andy Watters.

Cyclone Promotions' 'Waterfront brawl' bill also features Jamie Conlan's first defence of his WBO European Super-flyweight title, a third professional bout for Conrad Cummings, a second pro appearance for Carl Frampton sparring partner Isaac Dogboe and at least three other fights, with one reported to feature the return to action of Irish welterweight champion Stephen Haughian.

Cyclone Promotions CEO Barry McGuigan explained: "The main event is a cracker - Marco McCullough against Martin Parlagi, who is unbeaten and fought in two world championships as an amateur. It's a real challenge, but we're so confident about this kid. "Both him and Jamie are on the verge of domestic level (British) title fights. Jamie is already WBO European champion and he's number 11 in the world and number one in the UK and Ireland."

McGuigan also announced that Cyclone Promotions have signed a "multi-fight" deal for boxing at the Waterfront. "It hasn't been used for boxing for 14 years - the last fight was Eamonn Magee against Shane Neary for the Commonwealth title," he said. "We're delighted and thrilled that they have done a deal with us and we're back in a magnificent venue."
