Forest runs attracting big crowds

GosFord Forest Park was the beautiful setting for the second annual run Forest run Gosford 10K last weekend.

Almost 500 runners (left) from all over Ireland made their way to Markethill to take part in the event, which was organised by the Born2run Events Company.

The Gosford race was the second in the run Forest run 10K series, following on from the race in Tollymore Forest Park on december 21.

The next two races are in Minnowburn, Belfast on February 8 and rossmore Forest Park in Monaghan on March 2.

As is customary at Born2run races, Bruce springsteen's classic track was played just before the starting gun sounded. The pulsating rock music certainly helped City of Lisburn's Chris Madden, who went on to win in 35.18.

Monaghan master Donna Evans was the first woman to cross the line in 41.19.

However, the highlight for many of the competitors was the hot home-made soup at the prize-giving reception. For further information on the upcoming Born2run races please go to www.born2runevents.com.
