Veteran Sprott eyes Team UK victory

FORMER Prizefighter champion Michael Sprott is aiming to be the last man standing once again as he joins Team UK against Team USA in Joshua and The Prizefighters on Thursday from the York Hall, Bethnal Green.

Sprott beat Matt Skelton in the final of the fourth heavyweight edition back in October 2010 but has a score to settle with heavyweights from across the Atlantic after he lost out to American KO king Tye Fields in the Prizefighter International Heavyweights in May 2011.

Sprott (right) joins Hackney's Larry Olubamiwo, Milton Keynes' Matt Legg and Hertfordshire's Tom Little in Team UK, who face up to former three-weight world champion James Toney in Team USA.

Toney is joined in the US quartet by Californian Damian Wills, former world cruiserweight challenger Brian Minto and Florida's Jason Gavern.

Olympic Gold medal hero Anthony Joshua faces Croatian Hrvoje Kisicek in his third pro fight while cruiserweight prospect Ben Ileyemi meets Moses Matovu in his second pro outing.

Kisicek (5-6) managed to go the distance with Hughie Fury last month (losing on points) but is not expected to put a dent in Joshua, who has obliterated both his pro opponents so far.

Two weeks ago Paul Butlin managed to take him into the second round before Joshua finished him off with an awesome straight right hand. Expect more of the same on Thursday night.
