Drogheda hold Malmo scoreless

DROGHEDA United held out for a 0-0 draw against Swedish giants Malmo in Tallaght Stadium last night. A fine result for Drogheda was overshadowed by Ryan Brennan's dismissal for a second yellow on 75 minutes.

Emil Forsberg had the first real chance of the match on 13 minutes but his shot was saved by Gabriel Sava.

The Swedes enjoyed the bulk of the possession in the first half but couldn't unlock the Drogheda defence.

The Irish side then had a decent shout for a penalty turned down after David Cassidy appeared to be tripped by Magnus Eriksson.

Sava was called into action late on as Malmo's Tokelo Rantie went close three minutes from time.
