Camacho good value for top Prize

THE £34,000 night's pay, inclusive of a £2,000 stoppage bonus, proved Wadi Camacho was good value as the ante-post favourite for Matchroom's cruiserweight Prizefighter at Bethnal Green.

Camacho closed out the three fights in the one-night series by halting Hari Miles, who ended the hopes of Belfast's Conall Carmichael on points in the quarter-finals, in the second round.

Promoter Eddie Hearn reckoned Camacho was one more win away from a British title fight and Camacho hopes to make good on that prediction too, saying:

"The next step is up to Eddie. Coming onto Prizefighter wasn't about the money, it was about showing everyone my class, what a good boxer I am.

"I've still got that explosive power, but I can box as well."

Carmichael (right) will have a quick chance to rebound from his early exit as he's looking at a match against fellow former Irish amateur Stephen Reynolds at the Breaffy House Sports Resort in Castlebar on June 8.

An event staged by Assassin Promotion's, the bill aims to deliver 14 contests, including bouts involving Anthony Cacace, JJ and Patrick McDonagh and unbeaten heavyweight novice Hughie Fury.

Gary Sweeney is set to make his pro debut.

He was a finalist at the European Youths two years ago and is the younger brother of Michael Sweeney who features on the Breaffy bill as well as Ray Ginley and Daniel McShane.
