Video: Cushendall decamps to Croke Park to support Ruairí Óg

RUAIRI Óg play Na Piarsaigh from Limerick in today's All-Ireland Club Senior Hurling Championship final in Croke Park and from 7am this morning sleepy Cushendall fans piled on to buses for the journey to Dublin.

It will be the first time Cushendall and Na Piarsaigh have played in an All-Ireland final and Cushendall have lost eight All-Ireland semi-finals to Na Piarsiagh’s two.

The Co Antrim coastal town is bedecked with the hurling club's colours and the club's social media sites have been flooded with pictures of pets and teddy bears dressed in maroon and white.

One very, very famous face has also thrown his support behind Ruairí Óg. Liam Neeson made a video that showed off his support and his hurling technique.

With the whole village throwing their weight behind Ruairí Óg in their search for All-Ireland glory, shop owner Dominic McAlister said: "It feels like the build-up to Christmas."

"I think every shop in the village is closing on Thursday, everybody is heading to Croke Park.

"There's not often many of the shops close, even at Christmas, but the place will be like a ghost town."
