Ulster Barbarians are to host the Barbarians Wheelchair Rugby Blitz Tournament in Antrim Form this weekend, September 21 and 22.
Teams from Scotland (Glasgow Crushers), England (North East Bulls), Republic of Ireland (Irish Development) and Ulster Barbarians will compete at the event.
This is Ulster Barbarians' first time hosting a tournament outside of the annually-held Irish League.
``We will also be joined by a team put together with the help of our club patron - former Ulster Rugby and Irish international Trevor Ringland and his rugby colleagues Nigel Carr and Keith Crossan,'' said Ulster Barbarians spokesperson Sean Smyth.
The day will begin at 9am at the Antrim Forum with a game between the hosts and the Irish Development squad.
Following this, Glasgow Crushers will face North East Bulls at 10.30, and the Bulls will face Ulster Barbarians at 12 noon.
The noon game will be followed by a short exhibition game between Trevor Ringland’s team and a team of wheelchair rugby volunteers.
On Sunday, the action will begin slightly later at 11.30, with two play-offs followed by two placing games to round off the weekend, finishing at around 5.30.
Wheelchair rugby is a team sport for athletes with a disability.
It is practised in over 20 countries around the world and is a Paralympic sport.
Ulster Barbarians were formed in April 2013 and train at the Antrim Forum.
Team members come from across the province including Donegal, Ballycastle, Cookstown, Belfast, Bangor, Downpatrick and Newcastle.
