WORLD champion Irish dancer Aine Malone, All-Ireland Scor na nOg winning dancers Siofra McGuinness and Ciara McCann and Armagh Intermediate championship-winning captains Neil McSherry and Kieran McNulty officially launched the St Killian’s GAC Whitecross Barry Malone Memorial Golf Classic, which takes place this Saturday.

Despite coming from a small pocket in south Armagh Whitecross GAC are proud to boast international, national and county champions and along with club chairman Mickey McSherry, Barry’s family members and the walkers of the village, they launched what will be the third bi-annual Barry Malone Memorial Golf Classic, sponsored once again by Markey Drilling Ltd.

Barry, who was tragically killed at work in 2012, was a member of the Whitecross football club and in Barry’s memory the Golf Classic will take place at Ashfield Golf Club Cullyhanna, where Barry as also a member, on this Saturday, June 17.

It is a four-man scramble competition and £100 per team, and £50 to for families or businesses to sponsor a tee-box, with proceeds going to the St Killian’s club.

First prize is four WTX Golf Buddy Smart watches, second prize is a four-ball golf voucher at Portmarnock Golf Links, Co Dublin, while you can walk away in Adidas Golf Shoes if you finish third.

Golfers and non-golfers are welcome to attend the Memorial Golf Day in what should be a fitting tribute. Presentations and an evening of entertainment will follow at O’Hanlon’s Bar, Whitecross and everyone is welcome.
