PADRAIG Harrington and Shane Lowry will have some work to do to work themselves into contention at the Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio.

Harrington carded a one-under par round of 71 to lie six shots off the lead, held jointly by Jason Dufner and David Lingmerth, whil Lowry signed for a level par 72, which included three birdies and three bogeys.

Harrington parred the first 12 holes of his round before a bogey at 13 was followed by birdies at 14 and 15.

Meanwhile, in Sweden, Paul Dunne has a big job on to make the cut at the Nordea Masters after slumping to an opening round of five-over par 78.

Ryder Cup hero Jamie Donaldson, who has recorded just one top-10 finish in the last 17 months, carded an opening 69 to lie a shot off the lead. Donaldson fired four birdies in a flawless round at Barseback Golf and Country Club in Malmo, where Italy's Renato Paratore and England's Max Orrin shared top spot on five under.

Open champion and Barseback member Henrik Stenson birdied two of his last five holes to card a level-par 73 which was matched by defending champion Matt Fitzpatrick, while BMW PGA Championship winner Alex Noren struggled to a 75.
