Antrim GAA helped to raise £13,000 for Bowel Cancer UK’s vital services and lifesaving research in the north at Walk Together in Belfast on Saturday, September 7. Seven clubs, many of whom have been affected by bowel cancer, were recruited to join the five mile walk, which started at the Lock-Keepers Inn, following the Lagan towpath along the riverside and old canal. The club with the most registrations was awarded to Sarsfield’s, who had over 80 members sign up and won a set of jerseys, kindly sponsored by O’Neill’s sportswear. Antrim GAA PRO Sean Kelly said: ‘I’m delighted that Antrim GAA clubs really got behind this fundraising event and supported all the men and women and their families who have been affected by bowel cancer. We’ll make sure this event is firmly in the calendar for next year.’ Niamh McDaid, senior services officer for Bowel Cancer in the north, added: ‘A huge thank you to Sean and everyone at Antrim GAA for their support for our Walk Together event. It was our biggest event in the country with 335 walkers and it was due to their amazing effort.’ The seven GAA clubs that joined Walk Together in Belfast were Ruairi Og, Cushendall, Sarsfield’s, Belfast, Naomh Éanna, Glengormley, Naomh Eoin, Belfast, Con Magee’s, Glenravel, St Mary's, Ahoghill and Rossa, Belfast
