NEWRY City host Coleraine tonight desperate to bring an end to a run of four straight defeats and climb off the bottom of the table.

Darren Mullen’s men went down 2-1 to Dungannon Swifts last Saturday – the side’s 13th loss by a single goal this season - but can leapfrog Ards and climb out of the relegation berth with victory at their Warrenpoint Road home.

Their recent results have been poor but so have Coleraine’s. Rodney McAree’s side have lost three of their last four league games including a 4-0 tanking at home from Ballymena United last weekend.

Newry won 1-0 when the sides met at the Showgrounds in November and, with a top three spot unlikely but still not impossible for Coleraine, McAree wants to avenge that loss tonight.

“I can't wait,” he said.

“After such a defeat (4-0 to Ballymena) you just want to get back and look forward to your next game. Newry beat us here and we have to go and turn the tables.”
