Video: Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams says the party doesn't want a 'brutal election'

Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams says the party doesn't want a "brutal election".

The Louth TD said Sinn Féin will "be trying to be as well mannered and as positive as we can".

"We are not looking for a brutal election," he added.

Speaking a day after party veteran and former deputy first minister Martin McGuinness announced his resignation from electoral politics, Mr Adams said his party wanted to see the power sharing arrangements at Stormont returned after the election.

"It's our intention, if we get the mandate, to be back in the executive and for the power sharing arrangements to be restored," he said.
