Appalling attack on Lurgan church

There are few acts as pathetic and gratuitously offensive as an attack on a place of worship anywhere in our divided society.

It is appalling that a brick was thrown through the front door of First Lurgan Presbyterian Church, in the centre of the Co Armagh town, and it will be noted that Remembrance Day crosses were also damaged during the incident.

The minister, the Rev David Henry, offered a truly Christian response by inviting those responsible to speak to him, and suggesting that he was ready to help with any problems they might have.

It is an offer which deserves to be taken up by the perpetrators, hopefully after they have provided an abject apology for their appalling behaviour.
