A MAN in his eighties remained in a critical condition in hospital on Monday night after a two-vehicle crash in Co Derry.
The elderly man was injured in the collision on the Quilly Road between Articlave and Coleraine on Monday at around 10pm.
Police said a Citroen C3 car and a Manitou digger were involved in the collision.
They have appealed for witnesses to contact them.
Meanwhile, the funeral of a retired Co Tyrone teacher who died after being struck by a car is to take place tomorrow.
Bridget (Briege) Currie, aged in her seventies and from Coalisland Road, Edendork, was out walking with her sister on Sunday morning when the collision happened.
Police said the two women were struck by a Renault Megane on the Quintinmanus Road, which runs between Edendork and Newmills, shortly before 11am.
Ms Currie died as a result of her injuries. Her sister, aged in her sixties, was taken to hospital for treatment.
The female driver of the car did not suffer any injuries.
Briege taught at St Patrick’s Primary School, Dungannon, before her retirement several years ago. She also had links to Edendork GAC, where she played camogie in her younger years.
The club described the Curries as a "highly respected family, known far and wide as the Curries of Edendork".
Requiem Mass will be celebrated at St Malachy’s Church at 11am followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Ms Currie is survived by siblings Rita, Kathleen, Oliver, Pat, Malachy, Kevin, Aileen, Gerard, Marian, Kieran and Patricia.
