DONEGAL crooner Daniel O'Donnell has thrown his support behind a tribute band of five children who have mastered the singer's music and signature moves.

The Wee Daniels are massive fans of the country star, who believe O'Donnell is "one of Ireland's greatest entertainers".

The tribute act of Finn Dolan, Rian Sheridan and David Rubotham, all aged nine, Jack O'Sullivan (12) and Robert Johnston (13) are competing in the current series of Ireland’s Got Talent.

As they prepare to face the judges on the show tonight, the Cavan quintet received the seal of approval from O'Donnell.

"I've been watching you with great interest," he said.

"Thanks a million for singing my songs. I wish you all the best on your journey on Ireland's Got Talent.

"I, for one, will be supporting you and wishing you all the way to the very top. Take care lads and enjoy."

The five boys, who are all students of The Performance Academy in Cavan, have learnt their idol's singing style, also copying his outfits, hair and even the crooner's signature wink.

They said it's their dream to perform on stage with O'Donnell, but first they need to impress judges, Louis Walsh, Danise Van Outen, Michelle Visage and Jason Byrne.

But Walsh said: "I think if Daniel sees this, he might even ask you to go on stage with him. Maybe even on tour, you could upstage him."

Ireland’s Got Talent is on Virgin Media One tonight at 7.30pm.
