Funeral to take place of man who died in police custody

THE funeral is due to take place tomorrow of a 26-year-old man who died in police custody after being arrested outside a north Belfast bar.

William Young, from the Shore Road area of north Belfast, passed away after he was found unresponsive in a cell.

A nephew of leading loyalist Willie Young, he had been arrested by police who had been called to a fight in the carpark of The Chester Bar on Antrim Road on Sunday night.

He received medical treatment at Musgrave Street station but was discovered unresponsive shortly after midnight on Monday.

Police said they are not seeking anyone else in relation to the death of Mr Young.

The Police Ombudsman's office are investigating the circumstances.

His funeral is due to take place at Seaview Presbyterian Church tomorrow at 11.30am followed by burial at Roselawn Cemetery.
