PSNI hostage and crisis negotiators worked with Manchester police in the immediate aftermath of the terror attack, the force has confirmed.

Four negotiators travelled to Manchester after last month's bomb which killed 22 people while a number of PSNI officers have also been running a casualty bureau following Saturday night's attack on London in which seven people lost their lives.

Detective Inspector Connie Hampton is a Counter Terrorism Negotiator for the PSNI and had an advisory role in the North West Counter Terrorism Police Operations Room after a suicide bomber detonated a bomb at a concert in Manchester Arena on May 22.

Her three colleagues worked with the counter terrorism specialist firearms officers in search and arrest operations, she said.

Ten PSNI officers have also been manning a casualty bureau in support of the Metropolitan Police after Saturday night's attack on London Bridge and Borough Market. The officers are taking calls from members of the public and also from police officers.

Chief Inspector Natalie Wilson of the PSNI’s Casualty Bureau said every "incident or emergency situation is different, but the calls we take are from those people who have usually exhausted all avenues in finding their loved ones".
