DUP councillor who told Rihanna to cover up loses seat

A DUP councillor who complained about pop star Rihanna’s “inappropriate” clothing as she filmed a music video on his land has lost his council seat in the local government elections.

Alan Graham made headlines across the world after criticizing the singer's outfit as she made the video for her 2011 hit We Found Love.

Mr Graham, who is also a farmer, said at the time: “I requested that they stop filming and they did. I had a conversation with Rihanna and I hope she understands where I’m coming from. We shook hands.”

He later added that the musician had been “very gracious and respectful” when they spoke and that they “parted on good terms.”

Mr Graham, a veteran of Ards and North Down Council, lost his seat to the Alliance Party's Scott Wilson.
