The Museum of Free Derry is to be officially opened by US civil rights leader, the Rev Jesse L Jackson and Fiachra McGuinness, a son of the late deputy first minister, Martin McGuinness.

Rev Jackson, who ran for the US Democratic presidential nomination twice, arrived in Derry yesterday ahead of tonight’s opening ceremony.

Rev Jackson met the Bloody Sunday families at a civic reception in Derry’s Guildhall yesterday.

The museum at Glenfada Park – the scene of a number of the Bloody Sunday killings – will mark today’s event with an open day.
