The Dalai Lama is to make a third visit to Derry later this year to mark the 20th anniversary of the city’s Children in Crossfire charity.

The spiritual leader of the Tibetan people, the Dalai Lama is also a patron of the charity which was established by Derry man, Richard Moore to promote early childhood care and development in some of the world’s poorest countries.

Children in Crossfire has raised more than £25 million for worthy causes. These include the provision of safe water in Malawi, cancer treatment for children in Tanzania, help for visually impaired children in The Gambia and support for more than 10,000 children suffering from acute malnutrition in Ethiopia.

The Dalai Lama will return to Derry on September 10 as guest of honour at a public talk in the city’s Millennium Forum marking the 20th anniversary of the founding of Children in Crossfire. Other well-known local and international speakers and entertainers will also feature at the "Compassion in Action" event.

Tickets for September’s event will be available from the Millennium Forum from this Saturday.
