A GCSE biology paper has left students angry and confused – but not for the reason you might expect.
Students taking the AQA paper yesterday were asked about a meme of Charles Darwin… made 150 years ago.
Hours on hours of biology revision to be asked a question on a Victorian meme ?? #aqabiology

Students were seriously unimpressed, given that material they had revised didn’t appear.

Even teachers didn’t know what to make of it.
'Why did they put a meme in your GCSE biology exam?'- my biology teacher today #AQABiology

While Darwin’s contributions to the science of evolution makes him somewhat relevant to biology exams, students just weren’t expecting it to take such a format. They were reportedly asked in the question to explain why Darwin was drawn as a monkey.
#AQAbiology bet the grade boundaries are gonna be as high as the level of banter in the 1800s pic.twitter.com/9kjHAojoLF

The meme question came a year after students were asked about testing drugs on drunk rats.
2016:Pissed rats
2017:Charles Darwin meme
Aqa:might have to throw in a question about biology next year #AQAbiology— Iona Ray (@ionacray10) May 16, 2017
Good Luck for 2018.
