THE new Seat Ibiza will arrive in showrooms in July, with prices starting at £13,130.
Richard Harrison from Seat UK said the hatchback was a best-seller that had been "at the heart of our line-up for more than 30 years".
"With that kind of heritage, you can be sure the new model will be a benchmark car, taking Seat quality, design, engineering and technology to an even higher level."
It is a boom time for Seat, which has already been buoyed by its Ateca SUV and a revised Leon.
The new Ibiza is five-door only and boasts impressive space for passengers and their luggage, thanks to it being the first car to get the Volkswagen Group's new small car platform.
"The new underpinnings are the key to making the latest Ibiza a lithe performer around urban streets and an engaging proposition when out on the open road," said Mr Harrison.
"They also allow for an exceptionally spacious cabin in a car that’s actually shorter than the one it replaces: with width increased by 87mm, 60mm added to the wheelbase and 35mm more rear legroom, comfortable accommodation is guaranteed. And there’s more room in the boot, too, with an extra 63 litres available."
At launch, there will be four petrol engines. Seat is billing a new 1.0-litre three-cylinder as the star performer, and it will be available in 74bhp, 94bhp and 113bhp guises.
The two more powerful 1.0-litre engines gain a turbocharger, and the 113bhp unit is reserved for the sporty-trimmed FR version, which gets either a six-speed manual or dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
A more potent 148bhp 1.5-litre petrol engine can also be ordered with the FR.
Diesel engines are due to arrive later in 2017.
There will be five trim levels - S, SE, SE Technology, Xcellence and FR - and Seat says it has focused hard on "today’s customer preferences on technology, 'always-on' connectivity, in-car entertainment, comfort and safety".
The new Ibiza can be ordered and the car is due to be launched in showrooms on July 21.
