YOUNG artists can win £750 plus the opportunity for their work to be displayed in a Derriaghy pub and restaurant.

The Speckled Hen Pub & Dining Room wants an artist aged 16-25 to paint four sets of wooden panels in its dining room. The theme is food and that can be food from above or below ground, that grazes on the ground or flies above it.

The winning artist will be following in the footsteps of artist Basil Blackshaw who created a number of pieces of art in the pub in the 1950s and 1960s although only one remains.

The winner will also receive a travel and subsistence allowance every day they're on premises to work on their painting and their name will be displayed on a brass plate on the panels.

You must be resident in Northern Ireland to enter and the competition opens on November 5; closing at 5pm on January 31 2019.
