Yalumba Y Series Viognier, Australia (£8, Sainsbury’s)

Australia’s Barossa Valley has some of the oldest vines in the world and is home to Yalumba, founded in 1849. Yalumba has had considerable success with the rare and aromatic Viognier grape. This is a full-bodied dry white, with a perfumed floral scent and a ripe, peach and apricot fruit – with a silky palate-feel. This alluring wine evokes hints of honeysuckle, lemon and lychees – enjoy with a light pasta flavoured with herbs, seared swordfish or tuna.

Cimarosa Australian Chardonnay (£3.99, Lidl)

This rich, creamy Chardonnay has a wealth of exotic tropical fruits, with notes of baked apple which mixes with well-ripened peach, pear drops, juicy apple and hints of apricot. Vanilla and toasty oak add texture, with fresh acidity keeping everything in focus on the finish. Its pale yellow in colour with a distinctive oak nose, sharp acidity, vanilla and citrus palate.
