Car sales up - and increase in UK for 42nd month running

The Ford Fiesta was the top-seller in Northern Ireland during August

NEW car registrations rose by more than 2 per cent in Northern Ireland last month as sales in the UK as a whole were up for the 42nd month in a row. A total of 3,924 new cars were sold in the north in August, an increase of 2.1 per cent on the same month last year, driven by finance deals. It means registrations for the year so are virtually exactly were they were 12 month earlier at 41,559 now against 41,608 this time in 2014, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
