BELFAST'S Grand Opera House is offering a host of activities to get the summer holiday's off to a great start, with the return of its family festival.

The three-day programme contains events to excite all ages – from animation and art workshops to storytelling, dance and circus fun.

There will be daily theatre tours between Tuesday and Thursday July 3 and 5, were families can see behind the scenes. The festival also includes events focussing on the importance of recycling, such as Beat Carnival workshops where children will get the chance to make instruments from recycled materials before bringing everyone together for a performance.

Other highlights include a panto-themed fairy godmother’s tea party and an interactive chocolate workshop and baby dance workshops, where one to four year olds can fly like butterflies, swing like monkeys or run like the gingerbread man.
