MUSICAL comedy duo Flight of The Conchords have postponed their upcoming live tour dates due to Bret McKenzie breaking his hand.

"Unfortunately I've broken two bones in my hand today in a very rock ‘n’ roll injury – falling down some stairs," explained Bret on social media, also posting a picture of himself with an arm in plaster.

"The doctors have informed me that I won’t be able to perform for several weeks. I’m sorry not to be able to do these upcoming shows but I’m looking forward to coming back and finishing the tour when I have two fully functioning hands."

Indeed, rather than simply replacing Bret with a cassette (again) and trying to plough on with the tour, which included dates at at Dublin's 3Arena on March 25 and April 2, bandmate Jermaine Clement has decided to wait for his musical and comedic foil to heal before hitting the road.

An official statement on the New Zealand duo's website added: "Bret and Jemaine are extremely sorry and deeply saddened that they cannot perform for their UK fans, who have waited so patiently."

Obviously, Irish fans will be getting an extra special apology in the coming days – but with no rescheduled dates yet announced, they now face an uncertain wait for the chance to hear Conchords classics like Business Time, Hiphopopotamus vs Rhymenoceros, Bowie's In Space and Part-Time Model done live.
