BESTSELLING Dublin writer Sheila O’Flanagan will be in Belfast next week to sign copies of her new book, What Happened That Night.

The author of more than 20 titles, including The Missing Wife, Things We Never Say, Better Together, All For You, The Perfect Man and Bad Behaviour, as well as several short story collections, Flanagan worked in international finance before taking up writing full time. After being offered a contract with an Irish publisher she gave up her job as head of the trading department at the Central Bank of Ireland, the first woman to hold the post.

Her latest novel centres on Lola Fitzpatrick, who's bright and ambitious but also headstrong and stubborn, and her daughter Bey. When one evening, out of the blue, Lola has to make a life-changing choice, she decides quickly and rashly – and without a piece of vital information that might have changed everything.

Bey has inherited Lola's determined nature. Yet her impulsive reactions place her in danger, leading her to run away from what she wants most. And then, one night, standing in front of the man she loves, she too has her own choice to make...
