SAN Francisco alt-rock trio Black Rebel Motorcycle Club – or BRMC for impatient sorts – have announced their intention to return to our shores for a pair of concerts this October.

Robert, Peter and Leah will fire up their scuzzy, psychedelic musical machine at Dublin's Academy on October 23 before blazing northwards to The Limelight in Belfast on October 24.

The band are currently working on their next record which is "expected to be released later this year" (sometime around October, perhaps?) and will be the group's first new material since 2013's Specter at The Feast LP.

A couple of tunes in contention for the record have already found their way into BRMC's live set recently: Bandang Hum's surf-beat powered fuzz blues stomper and the pretty, slow-burning mellow doubt of Haunt.

"It comes down to trying to write a good song, at the end of the day," says leather-encased guitar-wielding frontman Peter Hayes of their approach to making new music.

"It's still what we're trying to do. Some day, hopefully we'll get one written," he jokes.

:: Tickets for both Irish gigs go on sale this morning at 9am via Ticketmaster outlets.
