THE third annual Glebe House International Poetry Competition has been launched by the Harmony Community Trust, with British poetry publisher Emma Wright named as judge.

The founder of Emma Press, Ms Wright is the first publisher to be appointed to the role and will be looking for "fresh voices" from people with something interesting to say.

"In my role as editor and publisher at the Emma Press, I'm often on the lookout for new poems and I'm constantly amazed by the creativity and imagination of the people who submit," she said.

"For the Glebe House Poetry Competition, I hope that people with all different levels of writing experience send in their poems."

This year's theme is 'trust' and entrants are free to interpret the topic as broadly as they wish, the proviso being imagination and 'elegance' in writing.

Closing date is September 1, with winners and runners-up to be announced at a ceremony at Down County Museum in November.
