FORMER Girls Aloud singer Nadine Coyle has revealed she is set to star in the second series of the hit comedy series Derry Girls.
The Derry-born singer said she would "love to do something" for the next series of the Channel 4 sitcom.
Set in Derry in the 1990s, the show has proved to be a massive hit with viewers with more than one and a half million people tuning in to watch the first episode of the series.
It has become Channel 4's biggest comedy series launch in recent years and it has already been confirmed that a second series will be made.
Asked about appearing in the comedy, the singer said she had been in contact with its creator Lisa McGee.
"I'm going to speak to the writer about that," she said.
"I'm going to call Lisa today actually, we're sorting something out for the next series.
"It's based on the same school I went to, the same Catholic school, so we have loads of similar experiences. I loved the first series so I'd love to do something for the second."
It also comes after it was recently revealed that one of the show's stars Nicola Coughlan, who plays Clare Devlin, watched video clips of Coyle in a bid to perfect her Derry accent.
The comedy follows the loves of five teenagers as they negotiate the challenges of teenage years, attending an imaginary convent school based on Derry's Thornhill Catholic girl grammar school.
Many of the scenes for the drama were shot around the Bogside and Brandywell areas of Derry.
Led by actress, Saoirse Jackson, the show also features comedian, Tommy Tiernan as her father and Game of Thrones star Ian McElhinney as her grandfather.
