HIT Irish play Electric makes its Belfast debut at the Lyric Theatre tonight as part of an ongoing tour.

A lighthearted comedy set at the annual Electric Picnic music festival in Co Laois, it tells the tale of Joni and Scarlett, two revellers from different backgrounds who come together unexpectedly during 72 hours of hedonistic mayhem in the fields around Stradbally Hall.

Directed by Clare Maguire, the two-hander stars Gemma Kane and Ali Hardiman, the latter of whom also wrote the piece which was originally staged to great acclaim at Dublin's Theatre Upstairs last year.

This sell-out run led to further performances at the Electric Picnic festival itself as well as Skibberen Arts Festival, while the current tour has thus far featured sold-out shows at Smock Alley Theatre Dublin, The Dolmen Cornelscourt and The Civic Theatre Tallaght.

:: Electric, April 25 to 27, the Lyric, Belfast. See Lyrictheatre.co.uk/event/electric/ for tickets and showtimes
