Wheelchair user left feeling like second-class citizens

JUST wonder has anyone experienced the same problem a few friends and I experienced last week while trying to order a private taxi with wheelchair accessibility. At least seven depots in west Belfast could not provide us with one - I won't name them because I'm sure other depots would have given us the same answer, none available. It is nothing short of disgraceful.

They say you should have ordered it the night before. Fair enough, but that rule does not apply to non-wheelchair users.

So they are discriminating against people who are confined to wheelchairs.

My friend had to make his way from Twinbrook to Suffolk in his chair while his father and I ordered a taxi. This is all so very wrong. Each depot should be forced to have at least one wheelchair accessible taxi available at all times. It is a disgrace in this day and age they are being allowed to continue with this practice while people in wheelchairs are left to feel like second-class citizens.
