Time for council to see sense

BELFAST City Council's proposal to build an enclosed floodlight 3G GAA pitch in the Falls Park is effectively holding the people of west Belfast to ransom. The council says that west Belfast can either have a park or a 3G pitch - not both.

West Belfast can have both. The council has alternative sites available, including Woodland, Suffolk and Balmoral playing fields.

The alternatives have many advantages regarding space, access and parking.

The Falls Park can then remain as precious open space available to all the people of west Belfast.

It's time for the council to see sense and protect vital open spaces for all.
