Park users must have their say

AS A regular user of the Falls Park I am deeply concerned about a proposal by Belfast City Council to install a 3G pitch, high fencing and floodlighting in our beautiful park.

The park is the jewel in the crown of west Belfast.

It is a much-loved green space in an otherwise densely populated area.

It is popular with walkers, joggers, local families and everyone who appreciates the spectacular views of Black Mountain as you walk around the park.

The installation of a 3G pitch would irreversibly change the nature and character of our beautiful park forever and many local residents are extremely worried about this.

After years of neglect during the Troubles, the park has never looked better.

It should be protected and invested in as a park.

It is important that park users and residents in west Belfast have their say on the future of our park.
