In politics nothing is black or white

POLITICAL reporter John manley tells us that 'public appetite for devolution may wane amid constant spats' (may 10).

So this article tells us that there is a problem. robinson and mcGuinness squaring up to each other. Elections, marching season, anniversaries - so what is new?

What is new is there is an awakening that nothing is black or white. republicans coming to terms that in the partitioned island that there are those (as is their right) who give allegiance to a foreign government - unionists here coming to terms that they are not ultimate administrators of this place. right, it is further complicated that we here are caught up in the presence of two disinterested governments, London and dublin.

The 'spats' as John manley says are just that. Yet here's the thing as I see it.

Are republican and unionist citizens going to face up to the reality of each others existence and their entitlement without fear to express it?

Zero sum is not an option.
