Offensive missive

THE letter from Ian S Wood (March 12) about Pat Finucane was a paean of hatred and bigotry. The murder is justifiably called a brutal act but that is only to disguise the true purpose of this offensive missive. Pat is referred to as a skilled lawyer almost as an accusation. His priority was to "act in cases involving members of the Provisional Ira". This is followed by "many think he still had links to this organisation". Ed Moloney's book Voices From the Grave is called "authoritative" in an attempt to give it some gravitas. Finally, Pat was the "go-to solicitor of the Provisionals' Belfast Brigade". Thus yet again an attempt is made to justify Pat Finucane's foul, state-organised murder with base innuendo. Shame on you.
