Bar integrated education Only way forward is to build a shared future from divided past

WHOLEHEARTEDLY support Sean Dillon's call to end the social segregation that is caused by the section process, previously regulated and now unregulated (January 16). I also support his call for those in leadership roles, including Archbishop Eamon Martin, to take action.

As Sean himself is in a leadership role, I hope also to hear him call to end the religious and sectarian segregation of our children and young people which the majority of our education system reinforces and indeed promotes. Thanks to the first minster and deputy first minister, supported by our education minister, it's now educational policy to bring children and young people onto a single site and send children of one religion one way and those of another, the other way. Everyday we will be reinforcing our differences. Everyday. We call this shared education - how ironic.

Bar the integrated education sector and it supporters, there seems to be very little leadership or honesty on the social consequences of our current education system and it policies.
