ACCORDING to Jim Gibney (January 8) 'Haass success would have put icing on cake'.
He also stated "no meaningful progress was made on the cultural identity of the north's population". Stop playing unionist/ nationalist ghetto politics. Substitute British/irish. According to Brian Feeney (January 8) Sinn Fein asked British officials in 1992 whether the British accepted that the irish people have a right to self-determination. There is something fundamentally wrong with asking the British if they 'accept' irish right to self-determination. Instead, put the question directly to the north's British population. Do we accept that they have an equal right to self-determination?
