I WOULD like to clarify some inaccurate information contained in a letter from Cllr Cadogan Enright (September 23).
Cllr Enright stated that the Department for Regional Development refused to withdraw a planning application for permanent fencing at Strangford ferry. This is untrue.
On September 20 The Irish News carried a story by Marie Louise McCrory which more correctly stated that I had instructed the withdrawal of the application. This instruction took place on September 11.
I am highly supportive of the scenic value and environment in this area and recognise the concerns of local people.
I hope this clarifies the situation for Councillor Enright. Danny Kennedy MLARegional Development Minister, Stormont
