Defibrillator wonderful achievement for village

A fEw months ago Crossgar made history by becoming the first village in Northern Ireland to have a defibrillator installed in a public phone box enabling this invaluable piece of life saving equipment to be available on a daily basis day and night.

Ever since, the British Red Cross - through Paula Powell and Jock McGowan - have been busy training more than 150 people how to use this and in addition to all this seven people have been trained as instructors to pass on these vital skills to others willing to be trained up which is all good news for the area.

One will never forget the efforts of local organisations, businesses and the residents who worked tirelessly and raised much needed funds to make this all happen - including the likes of Dolores Smyth and Crossgar Golf Club members, the war Memorial Hall committee also Dr Hart, the Red Cross and the medical research unit in Queens University Belfast for their input.

Again to everyone a job well done, and you all should be proud of playing your part in attaining a wonderful achievement for Crossgar.
